Event Details

The Sun Peaks Kookaburra Cup is back for its fourth year and is bigger and better than ever! Now listed as a BC sanctioned cross country event, the Loppet consists of five courses in one event. This fun, family-oriented event is open to all ability levels.

New this year is the 30km course where you can enter as a skate or classic skier and receive a separate time. Also new this year is the 20km course which is a free technique event. There is a short course (2km) for beginners and novice skiers, a 4km course for those intermediate skiers looking for a bit more of a challenge, and the 10km, 20km, and 30 km courses for the intermediate to advanced Nordic competitors who want a great challenge. The 2km, 4km, 10km, and 20km are free technique events which means you can skate or do classic technique, and timing is for both techniques together.

2km Course: free technique (skate or classic), M/F, 17 and under, 18 and over;
> Start at P5 along CottonTail the Umbrella and return to P5 (finish)

4km Course: free technique (skate or classic), M/F, 17 and under, 18 and over;
> Start at P5, along Cotton Tail,to Morrisey Express lift base, to Vista, to junction with Black Bear and return along Cotton Tail to P5 (finish)

10km Course: free technique (skate or classic), M/F, 17 and over;
> Start at P5, along Cotton Tail to Morrisey Express lift base, to Vista, to McGillivray Lake Trail, to McGillivray Lake Cabin and turnaround. Back along McGillivray Lake Trail, to Otter, to Great Grey, to Cotton Tail to P5 (finish)

20km Course: free technique (skate or classic), M/F, 17 and over;
> Two laps of the 10km course

30km Course: skate or classic, M/F, 19-29, 30-49, 50+;
Timing and awards will be seperate for Skating and Classic in the 30km only. All other course timing and awards will be combined for 'Free Technique'.

To Raven Ramble - Nut Hatch - Blue Grouse - Otter-Moose Track - McGillivary Lake Cabin section - *do this twice* then from cabin to Raven Ramble, Nut Hatch, Blue Grouse to Otter, to Great Grey, to Cotton Tail to P5 (finish)

Registration & Prices
Contact Guest Services at 250-578-5474 to register, or drop by in-person in the Village Day Lodge. There is no online registration for this event. The event cost is $15 for the 2km, 4km and 10km events, and $30.00 for the 20km and 30 km events.

Late registration, bib pick-up, and waiver signing will be held at the Sun Peaks Nordic Centre from 8:00am to 10:00am on January 6, 2013.
