Sun Peaks, BC - One team of adventurous tweeters will walk away from Sun Peaks Summer Kick-Off Weekend with a pair of Meet & Greet tickets for the Free Outdoor Concert featuring Kevin Costner and Modern West (July 7) after competing in a social media scavenger hunt on Saturday (June 30).

“We want to reinvent the summer tradition of the scavenger hunt by getting people to interact via Twitter,” says Brandi Schier, Media and Marketing Coordinator for Tourism Sun Peaks. “It’s a new way to enjoy something we all loved as kids.”

Teams of two will scour the resort and tweet photos of found clues using the hashtag #SunPeaksHunt to collect points. Second place receives two VIP Tickets to the concert and third place receives two alpine hiking or Bike Park lift tickets.

The list of clues will center around the Kick-Off Weekend (June 30 to July 1) festivities including The Tenth Annual Jo’s Road Race and the Mountain of Beer and Chili Cook-Off. Clues will also incorporate fun Kick-Off Weekend activities, such as the Bouncy Castle, Climbing Wall and Kids’ Zone. (For a complete list of Kick-Off Weekend Events click here.)

“The hunt will be a great way to participate in everything happening for our Summer Kick-Off Weekend,” says Schier. “Plus, the winners get to come back and experience Sun Peaks again, whether it’s meeting Kevin Costner or going biking.”

Participants are encouraged to seek out locals and shopkeepers who may be able to help them with some of the trickier, cryptic clues. Certain clues will be worth more than others and competitors will have to strategize and use their time wisely.

First-time-tweeters or teams consisting of a parent and younger child are also welcome. People can stop by registration early if they require help setting up a Twitter account or want to learn more.
