Camera Basics & Foundational Wildflower Photography Workshop with Kelly Funk & Darren Robinson

Saturday, August 3 (max 20 students per class) 
9:30am to 1:00pm
1:30pm to 5:00pm

Let Kelly Funk and Darren Robinson take you on a photographic journey to capture the essence of what are some of the most prolific wildflowers in BC. You’ll learn about the perfect exposure using your histogram, strong compositional balance, light control, story-telling using depth of field and placement, impact, simplicity of your subject matter and much more! 

There is 30 minutes of classroom instruction from 9:30am – 10:00am, followed by a ride on the Sunburst Chairlift to the sub-alpine on Tod Mountain. On Tod Mountain the group will take a leisurely hike to an alpine meadow where both landscape and macro techniques will be covered. Chairlift ticket is included in the Workshop price. 

You'll start the workshop before actually arriving! Having this information will allow you to absorb the most information possible while photographing some of the most beautiful scenes in BC!

You'll be sent a prep sheet with camera basic details and homework including such things as:
- Knowing how to change the ‘modes’ on your camera body, i.e M (manual) A / Av (aperture priority) etc.
- Knowing how to change your ‘metering modes’
- Having your cameras in the correct auto-focus mode
- Utilizing your focal cursor point for focusing and knowing how to incorporate a single cursor point in the viewfinder
- Knowing how to change your ISO (film speed)
- Know how to change your ‘white balance’

LEARN TO LOVE YOUR CAMERA
Wildflower Photography Workshop with Gemma Harris

Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4 (max 10 students per class)
9:30am to 12:30pm
$85 + tax

Are you new to photography or have just bought a new camera and not quite sure of the functions? Upgraded to a DSLR and sticking to the Auto button... not sure how to frame a shot... what to do in low light... all of these scenarios and more will be addressed in this hands-on clinic. If you want to build your confidence in working with your camera and learn how to take great shots in a beautiful alpine setting then this clinic was made for you. Guided by Gemma Harris, owner/photographer of Sun Peaks’ own Alpine Images Photography, she’ll have you feeling more at one with your camera by the end of the workshop.

Based out of Enderby in the Shuswap region of British Columbia, Darren Robinson is a professional photographer specializing in landscape, fine art, commercial, tourism/lifestyle, portrait and event photography. His current client list includes Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, Shuswap Tourism, Enderby & District Chamber of Commerce, Sunshine Coast Tourism, Tourism Powell River, Similkameen Tourism, City of Merritt and many others. Gemma Harris, Alpine Images Photography
Born in Oxford, England, Gemma’s passion for travel & photography grew and developed during her teenage years. She travelled widely in Europe, Africa, North & South America and documented her travels, the people she met and the experiences en route.

A graduate of the University of Wales, Newport with a BA Hons. in Documentary Photography, Gemma left the UK in 2009 and followed her love of the great outdoors to Canada. Now the proud owner of Alpine Images, Gemma operates her gallery, studio & photographic business in beautiful Sun Peaks, British Columbia. Her professional career has taken her to places as diverse as Alaska, the Caribbean, North, South & Central America.

Throughout, her aim is to provide images that bring pleasure, preserve special memories and deliver outstanding quality.
