Over the past few years, women of all ages have taken the bike trails by storm, rapidly shifting what was previously a male-dominated sport. Within the roots, rocks, and drops of Sun Peaks Bike Park, we’re thrilled to have seen this change first-hand.
To create further opportunities for people to fall in love with riding bikes on the rocks, over roots, and through the air, we've introduced women’s-specific programming such as Women’s Bike Nights, Women’s Weekend Sessions, and Women’s Bike Camps for all levels. Our goal is to foster an environment where women can further develop their bike skills, build confidence, and connect with like-minded individuals. It's incredible to see such strong participation in these programs and we look forward to hosting women's-specific events throughout the summer. We invite all women, whether they are seasoned riders or newcomers, to join us on the trails.
In 'On the Rocks' local riders Megan Nelson, Becky Bayes, and Melissa Miller share what they love about being part of the women’s riding culture in Sun Peaks and how the progressive trail structure has shaped their experience in the Bike Park.
All the info you need to get here, hook you up with the best of Sun Peaks, and get connected.
Sun Peaks Bike Park is located in the Interior of British Columbia, just 45 minutes northeast of the mountain bike mecca of Kamloops. It's an easy road trip from Vancouver, Whistler, Calgary, or Seattle; you can also fly in via Kamloops airport, or travel by train, bus, or shuttle.
A Two-Wheeled Commute
Ditch the car, grab your bike. It’s easier to cruise around Sun Peaks on two wheels. Most accommodation options are so close to the lifts that you can pedal there in seconds – even on a DH bike!
Come One, Come All
Steep, raw singletrack has previously defined the Sun Peaks Bike Park, and legendary trails like Insanity One, Honey Drop, and Smitty’s Steeps remain ready to challenge even the strongest of riders. As we continue to evolve, we’re adding trails built for every level of progression, from beginners, to flow-seekers, to pros, and everyone in between. No matter who you are, your new favourite trail is waiting in Sun Peaks.
Mountain Biking 24/7
With one of the longest lift-accessed seasons in the BC interior, you can shred Bike Park laps daily from June 15 until September 30. Take advantage of those long summer days too, with our lifts spinning until 7:00pm for the majority of the season. Still not enough? Before the lifts open, or after they close, grab your trail bike and head to Mt. Morrisey where the Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association’s new pedal-access network winds through the cedars.
Epic Lines Await, Except At The Lifts
Sun Peaks Bike Park is known for a combination of big terrain and minimal crowds. With the addition of Sundance Mountain, there's even more room to spread out this summer. Here we measure lift line waits in seconds, not minutes, meaning you’ll rack up the vert in no time.
