We're changing the game this summer! 31km of new trails. A second chairlift. Riding on all three mountains. Get stoked Sun Peaks shredders - all this is coming to you in 2022.

Mountain biking in Sun Peaks takes on an entirely new scope this summer, with trails delivering world-class riding options for the first time ever on all three of our mountains. This $1.5 million combined resort and community investment will increase capacity and further diversify our already revered trail network.

The highlight of this investment is hard to deny -- a second lift-access network for the Bike Park on Sundance Mountain, serviced by Sundance Express. At the summit, riders will find six new trails totalling 19km. These trails serve up flow and jumps for novice to expert riders, adding to the depth of trail progression already available.

Built by industry-renowned and respected trail builders, countless hours and a $1 million investment will have been poured into these new trails and chairlift retrofit by the time they open in early summer. The Sundance zone of the park will launch with a new black (advanced) signature jump trail designed and built by Landmark Trail Works of Kamloops, a second black trail, two blue (intermediate) trails, a green (novice) trail built by Lifetime Outdoor Inc., and a top-to-bottom green (beginner) trail built by Sun Peaks trail crew.

In the years to come, the Sundance trail line-up will expand with the addition of singletrack tech trails. This will pay homage to Sun Peaks’ roots and reputation as a world class Bike Park known for rugged, raw, and steep technical trails that have attracted expert riders and pro athletes for the past two decades.

In addition to the Bike Park expansion, the Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association (SPRTA) is opening 12km of new, free to use pedal-access trails on Mt. Morrisey this summer, built by Brady Starr and his crew from Starr Trail Solutions. These trails include a machine-built singletrack climb trail to the top of Morrisey and a top-to-bottom intermediate downhill trail, adding a new riding option for those that like to earn their turns. The crew from SPRTA aren't stopping there either, with plans for more new trails on Morrisey in the coming years.

The 2022 Bike Park season kicks off Friday, June 17, with the opening of the Sunburst chairlift and trail network on Tod Mountain. The Sundance expansion is slated to open late June, weather permitting. Lifts operate daily, all the way through Sunday, September 25. Extended hours will be in effect from Opening Day through Labour Day, with lifts spinning until 7:00pm daily. Following that, lifts will spin until 5:00pm as the long summer days slip into fall.
