There’s no doubt that winter has arrived in Sun Peaks, BC, and anticipation is building as Mother Nature has been delivering the white stuff. However, due to slightly warmer temperatures over the past week, the decision has been made to push back Opening Day to Saturday, November 23.
Snow at higher elevations has held and the snow base currently sits at 45 cm. Snowmaking efforts had begun earlier this month, with activity on the OSV training course and in the valley and will soon resume in full force with temperatures forecast to cool to favourable snowmaking thresholds this week.
Our usual opening day festivities will still take place, now on our rescheduled date. Check the events calendar for details.
A huge shout out to all of our teams, from on-mountain operations to hotel, administration and everyone in-between, for all of the hard work that goes into preparing for another ski and snowboard season opener.
Guests with tickets purchased between now and November 23 will hear directly from the resort.
La Niña conditions are anticipated this season and we’re looking forward to a fantastic season ahead. We are committed to delivering a safe and memorable winter experience for all and we will see you soon!
Stay tuned on our website and social channels for more updates over the coming days.
