The wait is over! On Friday, June 16 at 10:00am our lifts will start spinning for the 2023 summer season. We are excited to welcome bikers, hikers, golfers, and outdoor enthusiasts back to our mountain playground.
It is shaping up to be a fantastic first weekend of the summer. Here are all the juicy details of what we have planned:
Get stoked riders, we have a stack of trails ready to roll this Friday. The Sunburst Express, Sundance Express, and Bike Park Carpets will all be turning, providing access to 30 trails in the Bike Park and Progression Park. Favourites like Level Up, Canada Line, Bermalade, Stella Blue, Super Nugget and Steam Shovel will be open – you can check out the full list of available trails here. A big thank you to our Bike Park trail crew for all their hard work getting things ready for opening!
Heading our way for some laps? Don’t forget to lock in your tickets or a Peaks Card ahead of time to get a discounted rate.

Outside the park, the pedal-access network in the valley is also ready to ride. The lower loop of Cedar Twist/Calypso Groove, the SunBurf/Family Man loop, About Time, and the McGillivray Lake trail are all currently open, with the rest of the network drying out quickly and expected to open soon. You can check Trailforks for pedal-access trail updates from the Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association.
There will be lots of opening weekend options for those who like to explore the mountains on foot. 10 lift-access hiking trails will be open, including routes to Top of The World and Juniper Ridge. Check our Trail Map & Status page to see all available trails. It’s still early season so expect a few sections of snow/mud on the trails if you are planning to explore above mid-mountain.
Remember, you can score discounted hiking tickets all season long when you buy online, in advance.
Brand new for summer 2023 is our mid-mountain disc golf course! The new nine-hole course is located at the top of the Sunburst Express chairlift and serves up challenging holes, natural features, and scenic viewpoints. The course is ready to welcome players on opening weekend.
The golf season is already in full swing here at BC’s highest elevation course, with all 18 holes open since the start of June. Ready to play? Explore our Specials and Weekly Offers or book a tee time.
Opening day is a big deal, so we are celebrating accordingly. On Friday morning we’ll have music bumping and a Sun Peaks tent set up near the base of the chairlifts – swing by to pick up a free Sun Peaks Bike Park tee shirt and other Bike Park swag.
Then, to finish the day with a flourish, our annual Lift and a Lager event is back. Visit Masa’s Bar + Grill on Friday between 4:00pm and 7:00pm to pick up a cold Island Lager from Granville Island Brewing, complimentary with your lift ticket or season pass. There will also be freezies available as an alternative for our under-aged guests. During Lift and a Lager we’ll have live DJs spinning slopeside to keep the party going.
On Saturday the tent and music will be back for the morning, then the Peaks West Block Party offers up live music, food, axe throwing, and more for some Saturday night fun. To round out an awesome weekend, the first Sun Peaks Market Day of the summer runs 9:30am to 1:30pm on Sunday.
See you soon!
