Three bikers sitting on a chairlift in the summer with the mountain in the background

It’s that special time of the year! Our crews have been hard at work through this cool and wet spring season, preparing our trail networks to welcome guests this weekend for opening of the Sunburst and Sundance Express chairlifts.

Check out what’s on for Opening Weekend:

Bike Park’s 25th Anniversary season

On Saturday morning at 10:00am the Sunburst and Sundance Express chairlifts will start taking riders up the mountain. The spring snow melt has been slow and there is still snow at higher elevations, so expect some trails to be wet and please be mindful of trail closures. Proceed with caution by easing back into the season, taking your time, and making good choices.

Our dedicated Bike Park Trail Crew (18 members strong this summer!) is stoked to be opening a green, blue, and black trail from the top of both chairlifts, and a decent variety of trails throughout the network, including the Progression Park and the all new Pump Track. Check out the first installment of this summer’s Dirt Report for a more detailed capture of what the Trail Crew has been focused on for opening. For a complete list of trail openings check our Trail Status webpage, where the info for Opening Day is now live.

Mt. Morrisey Trail Network

The Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association (SPRTA) has informed us that pedal-access trails are not quite ready on the Mt. Morrisey side of the valley but should be good to go soon once we get a few more sunny days. Follow them on Facebook to catch the most up-to-date trail info as it's available.

Sun Peaks Golf Course

The wet spring weather meant a slower opening of the Sun Peaks Golf Course this year, but we are now fully operational with 18-holes and carts. Our golf team is busy getting ready to welcome the BC Women's Senior Golf Championship July 1-4, a major tournament we’re proud to be hosting this summer.

Disc Golf

If you missed the news last summer, we now have a 9-hole disc golf course located at the top of the Sunburst Express chairlift. While it won’t be ready for play on opening weekend, be sure to check it out soon!

Other Summer Activities

There is more than chairlift rides and swinging clubs to keep you entertained in and around Sun Peaks. Check out our Summer Activities page for a complete list of activities to fill your day.

For $50 you receive a 2-hour lesson, standard bike rental, protection package, and a Progression Park lift ticket. This program is for ages 19+, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm on Tuesday June 25, Tuesday July 16, and Tuesday August 20.

Our new Locals Days will take place on three special dates – July 11, July 25, and August 15 – when local riders can score a Twilight Ticket (4:00pm - 7:00pm) for only $25! Better yet, ALL proceeds are being donated to the Kamloops Bike Riders Association (KBRA), Kamloops Performance Cycling Centre (KPCC), and Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association (SPRTA).
