After the positive reception of our 2021-22 Mountain Cards featuring Dreams Aglow by local artist, Zuzy Rocka, we sought to keep the creativity flowing for the 2022-23 season. Earlier this winter, we partnered with ArtZone Sun Peaks to place a call for local artists to submit their work for consideration as the next design on our RFID Mountain Cards.
"It was such a great collaboration to have ArtZone and Sun Peaks Resort bring together local artists of all ages and stages to envision the second in the Lift Ticket Art Series. What a selection there was to choose from! The artists used several different mediums to create their art from acrylic paints, to photo enhancement, to taking prints from tree stumps. ArtZone looks forward to working with Sun Peaks Resort on this and other projects in the future," exclaimed Marj Knive from ArtZone Sun Peaks when asked about the collaboration.
Patricia House's painting 'Last Run' was selected as the winning submission and will be featured on the next launch of Mountain Cards available at the start of the 2023-24 season from Guest Services. 'Last Run', pictured above on Harry Bear's pass, is an oil painting depicting a scene familiar to all who have experienced a snowy, mountain-top run here at Sun Peaks just before the end of the day.
We are truly in awe of all the submissions for this season's Mountain Card artwork. A big thank you to all of the artists who took part! Below is a sample of some of the amazing pieces that were created and a complete online exhibition of all submissions is available via ArtZone Sun Peaks.
