The ski and snowboard season has begun! This past Saturday, November 20, Sun Peaks was the first resort in the BC interior to kick off winter 2021-22.
The snow has been a bit slower to arrive than last year, but that didn't stop plenty of stoked snow sliders from joining us for their first turns of the season. As usual, competition was fierce for the first chair of the year, with a 1:00am wake up call required to secure the honour.
Re-live the fun with our photo recap:
Thank you to everyone who joined us for opening. We look forward to another amazing season here at Canada's second largest ski area with you all. Our thoughts are with those who wanted to come but were unable to due to the on-going impacts of the recent flooding and landslides. We hope you'll be able to join us here in Sun Peaks soon.
A big thank you as well to our Snowmaking, Grooming, and Patrol teams for their tireless efforts to prepare the slopes for opening, as well as to all other Sun Peaks Resort staff members for working hard to have everything ready to welcome our guests this season. We couldn't have done it without you!
While terrain is currently limited, fresh snow has enabled us to open the Crystal chairlift in the days since opening day and our teams are working hard to open more runs as soon as possible. Fingers crossed for some more assistance from Mother Nature soon.
See you in the mountains!
