Forecast for Mid-Mountain (updated by approx. 8:00am)
Thursday: Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a flurry. Winds S to SW 5 to 10 km/h. High near minus 4 C.
Thursday night: Mainly cloudy. Slight chance of a flurry. Wind SE 5-10 km/h. Temperature steady near minus 4 C.
Friday: Cloudy. Periods of snow beginning by late morning. Amounts near 5 cm. Winds SE 10-20 km/h. High near minus 3 C.
Synopsis: The ‘bomb cyclone’ off the coast continues to weaken and drift westward with the circulation around continuing to bring bands of cloud but nothing more than a chance of a flurry for the resort today and tonight. Another low-pressure system will slide up the coast from the south on Friday with the associated moist southerly flow bringing periods of snow and milder temperatures. Winds on the mountain will be light SW today and a bit stronger from the SE on Friday.
Saturday to Monday: A quieter Saturday is likely with mostly cloudy skies and a chance of flurries for Opening Day! There may be a few flurries again on Sunday along with slightly cooler temperatures. A high-pressure ridge will bring dry cool conditions to the resort on Monday. Temperature should remain below freezing at all levels throughout the period.
