Winding through a forested valley floor and surrounded by towering slopes and ski runs on all sides, The Sun Peaks Golf Course serves up spectacular views with every hole. With so many amazing vistas greeting you at every tee deck it can be hard to concentrate on your round, but we think the backdrop is well worth adding a few distracted strokes to your score. Designed by leading course architect, Graham Cooke, our par 72 course is 18 holes of pure mountain bliss.
Here are our picks for the best views on the course:
Hole 16
Our signature hole is a beauty. A towering tee deck offers up commanding views of the surrounding mountains, the Sun Peaks village, and the valley beyond. Combine this view with the feeling of crushing a perfect drive onto the green (helped by the fact that at 1,333 metres elevation it’s BC’s highest tee!) and it’s easy to see why 16 earns signature honours.
Hole 7
Defined by the water that wraps around the green, this hole shares one of the prime sunset viewing spots in Sun Peaks, along with neighbouring Hole 3. Incredible reds, oranges, and pinks are often seen painting the skies above Hole 7 as the sun goes down, creating amazing reflections on the surface of the lake. As one of the shorter holes on the course there’s plenty of time to pause and enjoy the view of mountains on all sides.
Hole 13
The pick of many of our members and staff as the most stunning hole of the entire course is 13, combining a picturesque water feature with head on views of striking Mt. Tod - where most of our hiking and biking trails reside. The vistas of Hole 13 are so popular that there is a special clearing reserved for wedding ceremonies hidden just off the tee deck in the trees.
Hole 1
Where it all begins! Hole 1 serves up the first taste of the course’s signature mountain views to new players. Lined with lush forest on both sides, Hole 1 is the perfect appetizer for the rest of the course. Don’t forget to stop in at the Snack Shack to stock up before your round or as you transition from the front 9 to the back 9.
Hole 15
Another wide open space on the back nine, Hole 15 just begs you to unleash your big drivers and go for glory. The imposing bulk of Mt. Tod looms large from the tee deck right to the cup, making Hole 15 the best place on the course to take in the full view of our favourite local mountain, part of Canada's second largest ski area.
Hole 5
Featuring another elevated tee deck and more beautiful views down the valley, Hole 5 is where the front nine turns to head back to the village. The sun setting behind the mountains leaves this hole bathed in gorgeous evening light at the end of the day. You'll feel enveloped by nature as you watch your ball soar to the green!
