Summer isn’t over and there is still time to enjoy the outdoors in Sun Peaks. From fun on the water, to unique experiences in the mountains and valley, here are 7 activities to check out this September.
Try something new and soak in views by horseback. Horseback trail rides wind through the valley trail and onto ski slopes to offer beautiful scenes of the surrounding mountains.
Paddle your way right through the month with canoe and kayak rentals at the beautiful McGillivray Lake. Located a short 6km from the Sun Peaks village, this lake is the perfect place to unwind and escape into nature. Check-in at Guest Services, and then drive yourself to the lake to begin your adventure.
Don’t put the clubs away quite yet! Our par 72, Graham Cooke designed golf course is open all month long. This scenic course is nestled amongst three mountains, and at 1,200 meters above sea level, it is British Columbia’s highest elevation course.
Whether you are just starting out or you’re a seasoned angler, check out our nearby lakes with a fully-guided fly fishing tour. Our backyard lakes are known for the hard-fighting “Kamloops” rainbow trout and offer the perfect location to try out the sport.
Explore the tranquility of Heffley Lake with stand-up paddle boarding rentals or tours. Begin your paddle on a secluded, private dock and enjoy the views of surrounding nature and wildlife. First-timers can ease their nerves by signing up for a private lesson.
There’s still time to enjoy the alpine this September. The Sunburst chairlift will continue to spin every single day until September 13, with bonus weekends September 18-20 and September 25-27 for lift-access hiking and mountain biking. This means you can still explore the mountain on two feet or two wheels while the leaves start to change.
