Many of you may have experienced a case of the “Fridays” – Friday afternoon rolls around, your knees are bouncing and your thoughts are drifting because you’re so excited for the weekend. Dreams of hiking amongst wildflowers, tearing down the mountains on a bike, or floating on a lake in a canoe or kayak consume your thoughts.
To make your summer Fridays even better, Sun Peaks is kicking off the First Friday of every month with live music and entertainment, artisan markets, and patio specials. From the sweet sounds of maritime music to BC-based rock bands, Sun Peaks is the place to be. Bring your picnic blanket and dancing shoes, and take it all in.
No two Fridays will be alike – each First Friday, prepare to experience music from genres across the board. The First Friday of July will make you feel like you’ve travelled east with a performance from Maritime Kitchen Party. We’re kicking August off with the upbeat, acoustic tunes from Paul Filek. Last, but certainly not least, the popular ski town band, Shred Kelly will be taking the stage at Sun Peaks to kick start September.
Along with live music, First Fridays will also include an evening Artisan Market. Stroll through the village with the rhythm and blues as you shop from a variety of vendors. Expect a unique array of items from places like Forbidden Spirits Distilling Co., Rainbow Moments Bath, Soap & Candles, Itty Bitty Woodcrafts, and more!
If live, outdoor music and artisan markets aren’t enough to fulfill your Friday excitement, then live entertainment might be the cherry on top that you are looking for. As the live music plays, there will be a dazzling group of entertainers roaming the village. Expect roving entertainment, stilt walking, magic shows, and more!
During the summer months in Sun Peaks, grabbing a bite or sipping a beverage on one of the patios in the heart of the village is the perfect way to start (or end) your night. If you want the experience of watching the First Friday bands as they play on stage, hit up Mantles Restaurant and Lounge. If you’re keen to kick back and enjoy the music from afar, 5Forty Café & Cantina and Morrisey’s Public House have patios, drinks and food that are sure to keep you coming back Friday after Friday.
