The moment we've all been waiting for has arrived. The Sundance Express chairlift and Sundance zone of the Bike Park opens this Friday, July 15 at 10:00am!
Trails opening:
Easy Wind - After mastering the Progression Park, Easy Wind is the introductory trail for chairlift access riding. Low berms, smooth rollers, and panoramic views are all features of this top-to-bottom trail.
Morning Dew - A low-grade, wide and mellow beginner connector trail providing access to the lower section of Level Up and other Tod Mountain trails.
Might As Well - Step into intermediate freeride riding with open sight-lines, smaller berms, and low jumps that serve as an introduction to air-time. Aptly named for those ready to progress beyond beginner trails, and ‘Might As Well’ try an intermediate route!
Stella Blue - Loaded with creative features, this trail is designed to progress intermediate riders from trails like Canada Line and Bermalade to Steam Shovel and Super Nugget. Slashy and playful from top-to-bottom, Stella Blue features berms, table tops, step ups and downs, fade away, and a section that rides like a pump track.
Bad Habit - The introductory advanced jump line, Bad Habit serves as the next step in freeride progression after Stella Blue with a similar riding feel and larger features, including jumps, tables, and berms.
Super Nugget - A true black freeride trail that will give you plenty of air time as you whoop and holler working your way through the multiple line options and a ton of jumps from top to bottom. It's fast, flowy and built to ride at trail speed.
Take a look at the 2022 Bike Park Trail Map to see where the new Sundance trails lie on the Progression Chart.
To add to the excitement, we have a great lineup of events following the Sundance Express opening. Mahalo My Dude will be joining in on the fun this weekend on their I Only Ride Park Tour from July 15 to 17, where they will be organizing several mega-trains, giving away a plethora of gear, and launching one of their pop up merch shops. Quickly following this jam packed weekend is Red Bull Downtime! The uniquely Canadian competition returns to Sun Peaks July 22 to 24 where competitors of all skill levels can race against the clock for their chance at the trophy of Red Bull Downtime champion and a trip to Red Bull Joyride 2022. Visit the official site to learn more and register now.
With the longest lift-access summer in the BC Interior, we now have two mountains of unlimited adventure waiting for you! Remember to purchase your tickets online in advance to save.

Bike Park trail Map and Status
We are still striving to have the Sundance expansion of the Bike Park open early July. Stay tuned for updates coming coming your way soon, on this page and via our Bike Park Facebook and Instagram channels.
In addition to lift-access mountain biking, we also have our first alpine hiking trails opening on Friday, June 24. Crystal Bowl and West Bowl (to the Crystal Bowl junction) are now open for a scenic walk. Broadway Loop, Sunburst Loop and Shuswap Medicine trail are also open, and are free-to-access from the village. Check out the Hiking Trail Map.
Take advantage of our early season lift ticket rates and save 50% through June 30!
A selection of the free-to-use, valley pedal-access trails are ready to go, thanks to the hard work of our friends at Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association (SPRTA). Trails include the Family Man/SunBurf network and About Time. Vista trail to McGillivray Lake trail is also open for rides to the lake, watch for wet areas along the way. Check out our trail map and be sure to follow Trailforks for timely trail updates on this network.
Please obey all signage as trail closures still exist in the pedal-access network due to wet conditions.

Mother Nature has dealt us a rainy, cool (and snowy) spring, and while Bike Park and trail crews have been hard at work doing what they can to prepare for summer riding and hiking, the trails require more time to round into form.
Bike trails on June 17 will be limited to the Progression Park, accessible from the Village Platter lift. The new projected opening for the Tod Mountain zone of the Bike Park off the Sunburst Express chairlift is Monday, June 27. Trail availability at this time will be weather and condition dependent. The new Sundance Bike Park zone and chairlift is now slated to open early July – we will provide further updates on the expansion later this month, we know you’re excited to check out this new trail network!
We know there may be some disappointment in a delayed Bike Park opening, but rest assured this is in the best interest of the long-term quality, condition, and sustainability of the trail network.
We also know many of you are eager to get back into the mountains on foot, so we’re pleased to be opening the Sunburst chairlift as planned on Friday, June 17 at 10:00am to foot passengers for chairlift sightseeing rides, and, drum roll please… snowshoeing! Regular hiking trails will not be open at this time, there’s just too much snow, so we thought what better than to take advantage and pull out the snowshoes again. For information on the snowshoeing activity, which will be available June 17-19, click here.
Please note, skis and snowboards are not permitted to board the chairlift, nor are these activities permitted anywhere within the CRA at this time, regardless of how tempting it may be.
The Sunburst Bar + Eatery at mid-mountain is aiming to open with a selection of grab and go food and beverage options.
For those who have already purchased bike or hike tickets from June 17-30, you will be contacted shortly by our Guest Services team with options of refund or rebooking. Please check your email. Foot passenger tickets for the Sunburst chairlift will be available at 50% off through June 30 and Bike Park tickets (full day and twilight) will be available at 50% off from June 27-30. Our online ticket store will reflect updated ticket pricing later this morning, click here for details.
If you’re wondering about the free, pedal-access riding network in the valley and on Mt. Morrisey, most of those trails still need more time to dry and for Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association to get in and assess opening viability. To check trail status of this network any time, visit Sun Peaks on Trailforks, or follow Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association on Instagram or Facebook.
While the trails are coming along over the next few weeks, golf is now in full swing with the full 18-holes open for play! Book your tee time online today.
More lifts and trails will open as soon as conditions permit and we’re working diligently to help make this happen! Stay tuned to the website and social media channels for regular operational updates.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
