FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New Experiences and Eco-Friendly Initiatives Promise a Thrilling Winter Season at Canada’s Second-Largest Ski Area

Sun Peaks, BC, October 9th, 2024 – As winter approaches and anticipation builds among skiers and snowboarders, Tourism Sun Peaks is excited to share a series of exciting new additions and enhancements for the 2024-25 season. Designed to elevate the guest experience, the updates include improved mountain access, heart-pounding courses, and sustainable adventure options.

New West Bowl Express Chairlift
This season, skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the much-anticipated West Bowl Express, a high-speed detachable quad chairlift set to open in the alpine of Tod Mountain. The new lift will provide enhanced access to the West Bowl, a stunning zone known for its pristine snow, breathtaking views, and one of the highest-skiable areas in the region. With new trails and the return of regular grooming, this area will be transformed into a prime spot to cruise down scenic blue runs on a sunny, south-facing aspect.

Powder Ventures Ski & Snowboard Cross Course
In an exciting collaboration with Powder Ventures Excavation, Sun Peaks will be home to a brand-new permanent ski and snowboard cross course on Sundance Mountain. This dirt-built course is one of the few in Canada, eliminating the need for yearly snow-based construction. The Powder Ventures Cross Course will be a sustainable, early-season game-changer, allowing for an earlier opening with top conditions. By reducing the resort's reliance on snowmaking and snowcat resources, the new cross course demonstrates Sun Peaks' commitment to sustainability.

Mountain Man Adventures Introduces a New Sustainable Snowmobile Fleet
Mountain Man Adventures (MMA), Sun Peaks’ premier snowmobile tour operator, is rolling out an entirely new fleet of both fuel-efficient gas and electric snowmobiles for the 2024-25 season. Guests can look forward to riding the state-of-the-art 2025 Skidoo Expedition Sport, equipped with precise handling, advanced suspension systems, and efficient Rotax engines for a smooth, eco-conscious adventure. For an even greener experience, guides will now lead tours on the fully electric 2023 Taiga Nomad, a snowmobile powered by industry-leading EV technology that preserves the serenity of the great outdoors.
Adventurers can test out these new machines on MMA’s daily snowmobile tours or experience the all-new Date Night Tour, perfect for couples, friends, and families alike. This unforgettable journey features breathtaking views at sunset and starlit return trips by snowmobile. The tour includes a stop at the quaint McGillivray Lake Outpost, where guests will be treated to a luxury charcuterie box from Ohana’s Deli, creating the perfect atmosphere for an intimate evening in the cozy cabin.
